Tahoe Nugget #2:
April snowpack
In case you ever wondered what happened to all that snow we got earlier this winter (145% of normal in 2004-2005), well some of it is
still here.
I took this picture today, April 9, at my house in Carnelian Bay, which is considered the "banana belt" due to reduced snow accumulations compared to
locations farther west toward the Sierra range. The average snow depth at the ski areas is currently about 16 feet. Unfortunately, the two resorts where I have a ski pass are closing in another week (due to lack of
skier interest).
