Tahoe Nugget #10:
Tahoe Dam typical summer flow
Due to popular demand, here is a photo of the Tahoe Dam during an average summer release. Compare this with the previous photo of high
water in January 1997. The dam has recently experienced a face-lift and is looking pretty sharp and very tourist friendly with new glass, paint and overlooks. The landscape around the Gatekeeper's Cabin and
Historical Society Museum is much improved and the area is great for viewing close up how massive Lake Tahoe funnels naturally into a small outlet controlled by the Tahoe Dam. Very cool.
P.S. You can now explore behind the dam on a public walkway, see the inner workings of the gate mechanisms, and stroll along several
hundred yards of lakefront shoreline.
